The beautifully decorated hall was jam packed within first hour with thousands of people and all day around crowd continued to pour in. The event started with the traditional lighting ceremony by the IndiaFest 2016 Team, led by Beena Kothari, President, India Association of Long Island (IALI) in the Grand Ballroom. The culture show was full of many prominent performances from Nritaya Kala Arts, Arya Dance Academy, Shilpa Mithawala, Nartan Rang Dance Academy of Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Kathak Group Dance from Guruji Sayyed Tiramizi among many others prominent troupe. Rajasthani Folk Dance choreographed by Lalitha Cosme of Lilitha Dance Company took audiences on Journey to Rajasthan. Sonalee Vyas Dance Company performed “Bollywood Dhamaka” nonstop performances for 30 minutes and kept the audience spellbound. There were many participants for various competitions – Talent Show, Singing (Karaoke), Rangoli, Essay, Painting and Fancy dress. In Health Fair session, doctors from various specialties – internal medicine, cardiology, dental, diabetes, and Heart diseases provided free consultations.
Session on ‘Boston Heart Advanced Diagnostic Test’ was attended to the capacity of the hall. Yoga session was also conducted. ‘Indian Bazaar’ provided the bonanza for shoppers by vendors with abundances of selected items – Indian designers clothes , Jewellery, boutiques items, arts & crafts, Meena Bazaar, Pashmina Wears, Henna, Beauty & Health Aids, NGO etc. Some vendors stayed open till 11 pm as they had shoppers. ‘Ram Darbar’ provided a photoop for the visitors.
Amazing and spectacular ‘The Fashion Show’ was a big attraction. It was choreographed by Bhavana Sharma from ‘SARASHIVA’ and Nishi Bahl of ‘Panache Entertainment.’ Audiences were awestruck with eye catching Indian Ethnic Wear and the elegant bridal wear.
Anthony Santino, Supervisor, Nasrin G. Ahmad Clerk, Town of Hempstead and representatives from many towns and commissions were among the dignitaries who graced the event with their presence and have offered to continue their support to our community. Media and community leaders were recognized and appreciated for their continued support to IALI throughout the year. Many choices of Indian Cuisine from the north to south, east to west were enjoyed comfortably seated inside the Ballroom. The venue was decorated by the Exclusive Events, including Sound & Light arrangements. Emcees Monty Kataria, Bindu and stage management by Jassi Anand was outstanding. Even the cold weather did not hamper visitors’ enthusiasm to visit, the most awaited premier event of the year of IALI, INDIAFEST 2016, many stayed for long hours to celebrate and experiences the Indian cultures extravaganza.
The organizers IALI – President Beena Kothari, Executive Council and the IndiaFest Team who have spent thousands of hours, over the last few months, to put together such a fabulous event made it sure to be a grand and a successful, a fitting finale to 2016.
