British rock band Coldplay’s first concert in India in front of an audience of over 80,000 was as starstudded as it could get. The stellar lineup of opening performances included American rapper Jay Z and AR Rahman.
Celebrity emcees such as Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Freida Pinto and Vidya Balan, comic relief by the talented group, East India Comedy, and the presence of top politicos including Prime Minister Narendra Modi (albeit virtual) and Amar Singh, covered all the boxes that had to be ticked. But when it came to those standing at the far end of the venue, what did it trickle down to? We look at all the highs and lows of the concert that was held at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra (E).
AR Rahman started the concert with ‘Tu hi re’ (Bombay; 1995) and went on to sing Dil se’s (1998) title track and Tamil version of ‘Hamma hamma’ (Bombay; 1995). Amitabh Bachchan, with The Shillong Chamber Choir, recited a poem from his film, Pink. Later Farhan Akhtar and Bachchan sang ‘Yaari teri yaari’ (Wazir). Farhan Akhtar also sang some of his popular tracks including ‘Sinbad the sailor’ (Rock On!!; 2008).
The Global Citizen Festival and Coldplay’s concert was a reason for celebration and fun for our Bollywood biggies as we saw a lot of them being a part of the show and enjoying the performance of lead singer Chris Martin to the core. And now we can tell you that fun didn’t end with the concert.
It continued at Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat where the stars congregated for an after-party. The faces seen here were Chris Martin, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor among others.
We have been hearing rumours about how SRK and Hrithik Roshan are not seeing eye to eye after Raees’ release date was pushed and ended up clashing with the actor’s Kaabil. But all the rumours of a cold war between the two were put to rest when we spotted Hrithik here too.
One more so-called ‘rivals’ of the industry, Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi too came under one roof at this party. Ranveer Singh, who was seen with Katrina Kaif at the concert, was said to be by his alleged girlfriend Deepika’s side throughout the bash.
Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, Ritesh Sidhwani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra also attended. Shriya Saran and Dia Mirza were seen arriving for the party.
It seems post the Coldplay concert, the entire Bollywood shifted base to Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat. If reports are to be believed, the party went on till 5 am. And, going by a leaked image from this SRK-hosted party, we see some intense talking was taking place between Deepika and Chris Martin at SRK’s bash!
The concert was a mega success as all went on smoothly and the event was a starstudded affair. From Amitabh Bachchan to PM Modi, all shared their views on the initiative of Global Citizens. Music maestro AR Rahman even made the lead singer Chris Martin jam Vande Matram with him.
Other actors who performed at the concert were Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha, Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Ranveer Singh.
